SUMMARY
I went to school at St. Lawrence College in Kingston and graduated in 2002. I was a graphic designer in Ottawa for nine years. I spent five years at BiddleMcGillvray Advertising (2002-2007) before accepting a position at Ryan/Smith Creative (2007-2011). I have recently (June, 2011) accepted a position at Queens University Campus Bookstore as a digital marketer. I hope to hit the ground running at Queens University and add another, at least, five year glowing reference to my resume.

SPECIALITIES
I am an excellent graphic designer with exceptional skills in large documents, magazines, books, and/or binders I also am capable at constructing simple websites using HTML/CSS.

EXPERIENCE

I am responsible for the digital presence of the bookstore in the online world as well as creating digital newsletter campaigns and other media to drive traffic and sales.

I work nights and weekends building a client base so that when my kids go to school and I am no longer paying for daycare I will be self-sufficient. I have experience in print, web and illustration. Print: You name it, I can do it. From stationery to posters, display, magnets, flyers, postcards, brochures, books, binders, and back again. Web: Simple HTML/CSS websites are just that, simple. Simple also means affordable since i bill by the hour, not by project type. Illustration: I have limited experience using my illustration talents in applied situations. However, if needs require, I can provide samples.

At Ryan/Smith Creative, a company mostly specializing in document design and production, only 10% of my workload was graphic design. The rest was astutely laying out an entire document based on the look and feel of the original concept art. Quality control was highly emphasized and an incredible attention to detail was required on all projects at all times.

Graphic Designer at Biddle McGillvray Advertising
August 2002 – February 2007 (4 years 7 months)
Employees at the former BiddleMcGillvray Advertising were required to wear a lot of hats. In this position I executed media plans, dealt with clients, designed ad campaigns, wrote radio ads, coordinated direct mail, assembled and installed sales centre signage, managed printing and kept well organized billing, purchase orders and other pertinent information in the docket. I also got the boss coffee and washed the dishes.

Andrew was a detail-oriented team player who consistently produced well thought-out solutions to many design and marketing challenges. The volume of work he produced for the National Arts Centre was prodigious and marked by a fine eye for the subtleties and nuances of designing for a major arts organization. His work for Ottawa’s biggest homebuilders showed a fresh approach to showcasing the builders’ many and varied offerings.
